What you see - Old Brighton was a famous theater in Royapuram, Chennai as this was the place where in the earlier half of the 20th century, English numbers were played and Broadway talkies and Cowboy movies were screened. Brighton was later demolished and there was talk of a mall coming up in the same place. However, destiny played its game and a plush and swanky cinema hall, IDreams Cinema got set up there. The single screen theater is a riot of colors. It is turning out to be a popular cinema hall in North Chennai.

What you get - Inaugurated on 5th February 2009, IDreams has already emerged as a tough competitor to other multiplexes. Narayan, president of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council and DMK leader M.K. Azhagiri graced the inauguration.

IDreams boasts of a seating capacity of 620 and three classes. It is a treat for cinema goers with sixteen QSC 4-way speaker sound system and XD 20 DTS technology (said to be the first of its kind in India). It has two projectors and Qube digital screening solutions. If you do not understand all these technical aspects, there is nothing to worry. You can rest assured by just knowing that this lovely theatre offers amazing sound and visual experience along with plush reclining seats.  The theater right now screens only Tamil movies.

Even the washrooms here for men and women are clean and hygienic. Right now they don’t have a food counter but there will be something set up soon. IDreams has convenient booking systems and you can book online or via telephone too.

Our verdict - IDreams is a novel experience and MetroMela recommends it if you want to watch a Tamil movie. The tickets are reasonably priced at Rs. 30, Rs. 50 and Rs. 70. It screens three movies a day in different shows. (11.45 AM, 3 PM, 6.30 PM, 10 PM). The food counter addition could come as a Godsend. Adequate parking space is available.
