What you see – There is something endearing about Salon Suzan. Whether it’s the coziness of the structure or the wooden name board with the lightning zag type writing… there is just something so put together yet chic about the place. Situated on the rather traffic prone Kodambakkam High road in Chennai, Salon Suzan is squished into a larger commercial complex and therefore you cannot expect too much parking space.
What you get - Started by Suzan, this unisex salon has been around for over a couple of decades. It has transformed itself into a rather snazzy salon of late with its white walls and floor, splashed with black and red and five mirrors strategically placed and the striking black and red chairs.
Suzan has a reception area and a small nook for men with three chairs in the small enclosure. Women get a much larger section all to themselves. It seats up to 10. This 1,500 square foot beauty salon is on the third floor and so is pretty far from the madding crowd.
Although Suzan is primarily a salon, they have spa facilities too. They even have shower facility for those who want to go in for an oil massage - a hair oil massage costs Rs. 350 or so depending on the length /volume of hair, while an Ayurvedic oil massage from neck to toe oil with steam would set you back by Rs. 800 (this lasts for around one and a half hours).
Suzan has ten types of facials to choose from – the skin lightening one costs Rs. 1,300, while the Pearl, Gold and Platinum facials cost the most. The more expensive facials are for Rs. 1,700. But they do have a herbal facial for around Rs. 400.
The have body polishing too if you are interested. It involves a massage with a scrub and pack along with polishing and toning the body, and costs Rs. 2,000. Their Foot Spa costs Rs. 600 and lasts for an hour.
Our verdict – Everyone who has had a massage or ‘treatment’ at Suzan’s says the place is worth the money spent. MetroMela too found it neat, chic and very friendly.
